FFWGC presents largest-ever grant to UPward Design for Life

Fifty Fabulous Women Giving Circle, a community of philanthropic women who combine their financial strength to improve the lives of women and girls in Erie and Niagara counties, presented its largest-ever grant in the amount of $5,695 to UPward Design for Life.

The circle’s founder, Lisa LaTrovato, MBA, the Director of Development at Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, presented the check to Dionne Williamson, the organization's CEO and founder.

UPward Design for Life works to restore dignity, hope, and independence to those in need by furnishing residences with all donated items. It's their mission to see every person who is in need in our community resting safely and peacefully in a fully furnished home.

Their process begins with client referrals from partner agencies. Volunteers from UPward Design for Life will schedule a home visit with the client in their new residence. During the home visit, UPward Design determines the client's overall needs and creates a design plan that will best serve that family with the donations they have available. Once the home visit is complete, UPward Design schedules a furniture installation date and volunteers fully furnish the home—including furniture, small kitchen appliances, and household items such as cookware, dishes, utensils, linens, and the like. Items used in these home transformations are donated from private donors and companies.
